Dog Kennel Flooring
How To Setup a dog kennel flooring
Dogs havethe habit of roaming and digging, which is why many owners purchase dog kennels.
However, what many owners fail to do, is to consider what type of dog kennel floor will be best for their pets. In
most cases, the owner can choose between wood, metal, or plastic as a dog kennel flooring.
Each material poses different problems for dog owners.
Metal dog kennel flooring, for instance, can sometimes be very slippery, making it easy for dogs to
lose grip, slide around in the cage, and break nails; however, not all metal floors have this problem. Some have
notches to prevent the dog from sliding and from breaking nails. In contrast, wooden floors are much softer on your
dog's paws and nails, but they pose a problem if your dog has a habit of digging. If this is the case, your
dog will quickly destroy his kennel floor, marking it up and creating grooves. Plastic floors are another
alternative to metal, but they pose some of the same problems as a wooden dog kennel floor; they can easily be
destroyed.
“The flooring is one of the most important features of your dog kennel, try and get the vest you
can, it could save you money and efforts in the future.”
The atmosphere inside the kennel is important matter for the dog, so it is necessary to use a floor that
conducts heat, as it may cause the dog to be cold in winter and too hot in the summer. The kennel floor should also
have something comfortable to allow the dog to sleep. For instance, you may want to put down a mat or some
straw.
Dog kennel floor can be made of any material, but it needs to be comfortable for the dog. At the absolute
minimum, you should take into consideration whether or not the floor will be affected by weather, whether or not
the floor is too slippery, and whether or not the floor is scratch-resistant.
